Tejasvi Surya booked for ‘seeking votes based on religion’ – The Indian Express

Police have booked BJP MP and Bangalore South candidate Tejasvi Surya after a complaint from a poll officer for allegedly soliciting votes on the ground of religion through social media.
Surya Thursday posted a video of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and wrote that “PM Modi fulfilled the wish of crores of Indians” and “for Bharatiya has to survive, vote for Modi!”
A police officer said the election officer of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Santosh N Thursday filed the complaint against Surya. Police have registered a non-cognisable report under Sections 123 (3) (appealing for votes on grounds of religion) and 126 (prohibition of public meetings during a period of 48 hours ending with hour fixed for conclusion of poll) of The Representation of the People Act, 1951.
Election Commissioner, Karnataka, posted on X: “Case is booked against Tejasvi Surya MP… for posting a video in X handle and soliciting votes on the ground of religion.”
Arunima Rai, a student from Chandigarh, achieved 97% in ISC Class 12 non-medical and topped the Tricity. Despite not qualifying for IIT, she plans to pursue Computer Science with a focus on AI and Data Science from prestigious private colleges. She credits her success to hard work, consistency, and belief in her skills.
