'Singham Again', 'Pushpa 2', and more: Sequels to look forward to in 2024 – TOI Etimes

​2023 marked several blockbuster films by our favourite actors. Now, films like ‘Fighter’ and ‘Merry Christmas’ are opening for the first time in Bollywood. Apart from these, there are quite a lot of remakes and sequels in the pipeline to be released in 2024. From the sequels ‘Stree,’ and ‘Pushpa 2’ to the Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ will hit the big screen this year. Here’s a list of all the exciting sequels and remakes to look forward to in 2024:

​The Allu Arjun starrer ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ was a huge hit in 2021. As soon as a sequel to the film was announced, the excitement around it was outstanding. It will also feature Rashmika Mandanna and will be released in the middle of this year. As per the announcement, the movie will hit theatres on August 15, 2024. Written and directed by Sukumar, ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ depicts the rise of a coolie, Pushpa Raj, in the smuggling syndicate of red sandalwood.

​’Stree’ is a horror comedy starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. It was directed by debutant Amar Kaushik. The plot is based on the urban legend Nale Ba of Karnataka, modified as O Stree Kal Aana in the film. The film was released on August 31, 2018. Now, the makers are all set for ‘Stree 2, which will release on August 30, 2024.

The makers are all set to bring back the magic of cult and classic cinema with ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. It stars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles. The film is set to bring back the action and thrill of the new film. ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ will be released on April 10, 2024. The original 1998 film ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ featured Govinda and Amitabh Bachchan.

​’Welcome to the Jungle’ is the third film in the ‘Welcome’ franchise. The star-studded cast of the film includes Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, and Suniel Shetty in pivotal roles. Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar, however, won’t return for the third installment. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film is slated for a Christmas release.

​’Singham Again’ is the third part in the Singham franchise and features Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. The film is scheduled for release in 2024. It is the fifth installment of Shetty’s Cop Universe and is the sequel to the 2014 film ‘Singham Returns’, which is a sequel to ‘Singham’. The film has music jointly composed by Payal Dev, Lijo George, and Jam8.

‘Haseen Dilruba 2’ is the sequel to the much-discussed film ‘Haseen Dilruba’. The second part is scheduled to be released this year. The sequel will star Taapsee Pannu, Sunny Kaushal, and Vikrant Massey. Jayprad Desai is the film’s director, and Kanika Dhillon is its co-writer and co-producer. Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma are producing the film. ‘Haseen Dillruba’ was streamed on one of the leading OTT platforms on July 2, 2021, and it received mixed reviews.
