Daily Schmankerl: Pep Guardiola might not coach at Bayern Munich, but still could leave Manchester City; Julian … – Bavarian Football Works

Filed under:
Bayern Munich is set to face with Wolfsburg on Sunday.
As Bayern Munich begins the process to close down its coaching search, the name of Pep Guardiola briefly floated into the rumor mill before his entourage shot it down.
The Manchester City boss will not be coaching in Germany next season — but that does not necessarily mean he will be back with the Citizens, either:
Pep Guardiola will not return to Bayern Munich this summer but there is great uncertainty over his Man City future, sources have told Football Insider.
The Spaniard, 53, has been widely linked with the vacancy at Bayern with Thomas Tuchel set to depart at the end of this season.
Guardiola is under contract at Man City until June 2025 after penning his last extension in November 2023.
The Premier League champions are desperate to prolong his stay in Manchester but it is believed they are aware the final decision will lie with the former Barcelona boss.
A top source has told Football Insider City are not likely to put pressure on him to renew his contract in the coming months.
Guardiola’s future might seem open, but being at a club with unlimited resources has its advantages. If City avoids being penalized for potential financial fair play violations, then Guardiola will likely stay put.
German national team boss Julian Nagelsmann can see the intersection of club and country and how it might affect players.
“There are players who like to come to us when things aren’t going well at their club. That could just be the case at FC Bayern. There are also players who take the momentum from the club with them. In general, I don’t assess the sporting situation of the clubs, but rather that of the individual players,” Nagelsmann said. “Bayern players are all very experienced and can separate things well when things aren’t going well at the club. Nevertheless, they have quality that will help us in the national team.”
Bayern Munich has been left reeling after its dramatic (and frustrating) Champions League elimination at the hands of Real Madrid.
Now, the Bavarians must find a way to regroup and finish off its Bundesliga season in a strong manner. It will not be easy, though, as Wolfsburg has experienced a resurgence under Ralph Hasenhüttl.
Can Bayern Munich get the job done? Let’s discuss on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:
FC Barcelona could be looking to unload Raphinha to Tottenham Hotspur:
Meanwhile, Barcelona may try to sell Raphinha to Tottenham for £50m as part of plans to raise funds for incomings, though the Brazil winger is in no rush to leave.
Aleksandar Pavlović has had quite the season. When recently asked about who might have surprised him the most since joining the first team, the youngster could not really decide.
“Actually everyone, because everyone in the squad is a world-class footballer. At this high mental and technical level, I can still learn a lot. All in all, all the boys and the coaches welcomed me very well and helped me a lot,” Pavlović said.
The midfielder said that the whole experience of this season has been wild and “intense.”
“Not only the most intense, but also the most beautiful time in my life. I’m currently enjoying every single moment. It’s a lot of fun to be on the pitch with these outstanding teammates at the club I love,” said the 20-year-old.
With Bayern Munich’s season essentially over, it is now time for the club to start tying up loose ends for the season — namely hiring a head coach and figuring out what the roster might look like next season.
Clearly, the action is just about to start instead of drawing to a close for the season. Let’s take a look at what subjects we dive into for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
Jadon Sancho is probably getting much more out of his loan to Borussia Dortmund than he thought he would. With that in mind, the Englishman wants to permanently move on from Manchester United:
Another player set to leave Man Utd is Jadon Sancho, who does not want to return to Old Trafford at the end of his loan spell with Borussia Dortmund. Barcelona are unlikely to sign Darwin Nunez this summer as they would struggle to stump up an acceptable transfer fee, while the striker is keen to stay at Liverpool.
Speaking of people who could potentially leave Manchester City, Kevin De Bruyne is drawing interest from Saudi Arabia:
✨ Two new clubs joined the race for Kevin #DeBruyne: #AlQadisiya and #AlIttihad.

‼️ The position of the player – whose contract with #ManCity will expire in 2025 – is always the same: he will evaluate any proposals only at the end of the season. ⚽ #Transfers
Bayern Munich traveled to Spain with a lot of hope, but played like it was hopeless for much of the match.
After Bayern Munich had taken a 1-0 lead, the squad collapsed in the worst possible way.
It was heartbreaking, dramatic, and altogether shocking. Bayern Munich eventually lost 2-1 (4-3 on aggregate), so let’s just get to it (and maybe put on “Taps” in the background):
